A quick overview of everything we did in October.
We opened October with a bang, performing Xenakis in the Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall. On the centenary of his birth, this concert formed part of the Southbank Centre's Xenakis 100 Day, featuring free talks and performances all day. Read more about our Xenakis concert.
So brilliant that we can get to hear such exciting music like Xenakis. Hats off to @southbankcentre for staging a day of his extraordinary music. This picture is from the lunchtime concert by @Ldn_Sinfonietta pic.twitter.com/5kYOJhCNaI

After a successful launch in May, we are excited re-launch our podcast, Couch to Concert. The multimedia programme aims to welcome first-time contemporary classical listeners into the world of the inspiring Japanese composer, Tōru Takemitsu.
The series uses a hybrid experience of podcasts, playlists and musical route maps to guide new listeners to their first contemporary classical concert – to which they will receive a free ticket and a complimentary drink on arrival.
Our new film features a composition by Alicia Jane Turner, a theatrical and sensory piece that explores gendered experiences of walking alone at night.
"In this piece, the voice at the centre shows how they can never be destroyed, that collectively we contain the power to destroy misogyny and collapse violent patriarchal structures. I believe our outrage, our anger is productive. Together we have so much power to create change."
London Sinfonietta’s Untold Stories is a series of portrait pieces celebrating the importance of connecting with those around us. Each piece focuses on the story on a member of the public who is a central part of their community.
Derek Nisbet’s new work ‘A Piece of the Puzzle’ is inspired by Avi Tordjman and charts his story in acquiring Coventry Synagogue. He talks Derek through his motivation and ambitions for the project in this unique composition and film which makes use of interviews, images and traditional Jewish instrumentation.
Yesterday our new film 'Untold Stories: A Piece of the Puzzle' was featured as part of the Warwick Arts Weekender, with @warwickarts! 🧩

The end of October marks the start of our project with NMPAT's ensemble Zingaresque. Over the next few weeks Aga Serugo-Lugo and London Sinfonietta Musicians will be working with the young people in the ensemble and local dance group Dexterity to co-create new pieces of music and dance.
