CONNECT: The audience as artist
Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall, London
In The Composer's Mind, we meet the composers behind London Sinfonietta's rich programme of newly commissioned repertoire. Christian Mason's In The Midst of the Sonorous Islands received its world premiere in October 2016 as part of of Connect: The Audience as Artist, a Europe-wide project which saw two ground-breaking commissions incorporate the audience in their composition without any musical experience required. Glass bottles, baoding balls, tin foil, harmonicas and whispers were used to integrate the public. Hear what Christian had to say about meeting such a challenging brief.
If you are enjoying the videos, podcasts and articles on the London Sinfonietta Channel, and if you can possibly afford it, please do consider donating to support the London Sinfonietta’s work both now and in the future – in schools, on the concert platform and in the community.
It might be the price of a coffee, or the cost of a ticket to one of our live events. Any money you can give will also support the Players who perform for the group, by giving them more opportunities to do what they do best – make extraordinary new music that brings the wonderful ideas of living composers to life – as well as support composers to write new music.
