CoMA (Contemporary Music for All) was founded in 1993 to enable musicians of all abilities to participate actively in contemporary music, championing an inclusive ethos in projects across the UK and Ireland. London Sinfonietta partner with CoMA each season to enable musicians of all abilities to create and perform new work alongside expert professionals. CoMA is a national organisation committed to bringing contemporary music to people whatever their musical ability.
2022
We supported this year's festival with three events in one day. We led a morning graphic score workshop where participants gained tips on how to interpret and create graphic scores, followed by an open rehearsal for people to join our musicians to perform music by Oliver Leith and Stephen Montague. The day concluded with an evening concert featuring a range of premieres of works commissioned by CoMA.
2020
We invited members of the public to take part in a marathon day of contemporary music. Participants received coaching on a piece of contemporary repertoire from a member of the London Sinfonietta, and had access to a masterclass on their piece, followed by a performance in The Octagon, at Queen Mary University.
2018
A joint CoMA/London Sinfonietta concert featured music by Philip Cashian, Tansy Davies, Jonathan Harvey, Roxana Panufnik, Gregory Rose and Philip Venables, and included premieres of Festival commissions by Hannah Kendall and George Lewis.
