Omri is inspired by the Fiona Davison's An Almost Impossible Thing, he will bring to life the stories of early female professional gardeners. Designed for community garden spaces, the ensemble will feature instrumentalists, singers and on-stage gardeners, joining forces to celebrate the entangled lives of these exceptional women. Ladies in Bloomers is set to premiere in Summer 2025.
Omri is a composer and guitarist based in London. His work is characterised by drawing its language from a broad range of influences, whilst focusing on the reality of sounds, plants, people, and the interaction between them.
Omri is currently working on a new orchestral work for the London Symphony Orchestra, a work for string quartet and video for the Aestus Quartet, a new choral work, and a collaborative multimedia performance with Joanna Ward.
Recent highlights include Yam-Yabasha (2021) and moon and mint (2023), two orchestral works commissioned by the Orchestra of Opera North; anafim (2023), commissioned by Britten-Pears Arts for the Aestus Quartet; and Kishtatos (2022), also commissioned by Britten-Pears Arts and performed by the BBC Singers at the 2022 Aldeburgh festival, broadcasted on BBC Radio 3, and later nominated for a 2023 Ivors Classical Award.
He held a 2022-23 Junior Fellowship for Composition at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, studying with Julian Anderson and Laurence Crane, after graduating from his postgraduate degree at The Guildhall in 2022.
