Celebrating the composer in his centenary year
Queen Elizabeth Hall, London
to
Beijing
We are excited to be continuing our international touring schedule with a programme of contemporary favourites at the Beijing International Music Festival. First, we'll be performing with the inspiring Theatre of Sound opera company, bringing the festival two performances of Béla Bartók's only opera, Bluebeard's Castle. Then, on 9 October, a chamber concert featuring Olivier Messiaen's profoundly affecting Quartet for the End of Time and a tribute to the groundbreaking Chinese composer Chou wen Chung in the year of his 100th anniversary of birth.
Founded in 2004, Beijing International Music Festival is the first large-scale international music festival in the history of modern Chinese music education. Each year the festival invites internationally-leading performers and music educators to give lessons and provide performance opportunities with an enthralling programme of masterclasses, competitions, exchanges and a fascinating concert series for audiences in the capital.
