UNTOLD STORIES: ANIL SOOD
A new Community Commission by Ben Oliver and Alys Scott-Hawkins
The Stage Door, Southampton
Join us in Southampton for the world premiere showing of a new film in London Sinfonietta's new Untold Stories series, ANIL SOOD by Alys Scott-Hawkins and Benjamin Oliver.
The film, accompanied by Benjamin's score A-Listers, tells the story of Southampton local Anil Sood. Anil is well-known in Southampton for running a dance music record shop and drum'n'bass events in the 1990s and 2000s. Through an interview Anil tells the stories of highs and lows; most recently having to close his latest business during the pandemic. The film brings together Benjamin's piece A-Listers, archive material, interview footage and animation to interpret Anil's story.
In this unique event, Benjamin and Alys will come together to discuss the film, alongside live performances of new music and live drawing by Alys Scott-Hawkins.

London Sinfonietta
London Sinfonietta hopes to make this event accessible to everyone. If you'd like to attend this event but the ticket price would be a barrier to you, please email phoebe.walsh@londonsinfonietta.org.uk
I'm really interested in hearing and sharing stories that don't usually get told or recorded... for me that's something really important about giving Anil the opportunity to tell his story, to find a way to interpret that story and to share it and for there to be some kind of record of that era and that community of people he brought together.
