Introducing London Sinfonietta’s new series online series Lockdown Live
We are excited to announce the launch of a new series of live digital content especially for the period of the Coronavirus lockdown. Over the coming weeks, Lockdown Live will include concerts and performance guides given by London Sinfonietta Principal Players, as well as composition challenges aimed at young people.
To begin, join us on our Youtube channel for Sinfonietta Shorts Live, in which short five-minute solo works will be performed, followed by discussions with the composer and performer, where you can ask questions and hear insights in real time. The weekly series will begin at 3 pm on Wednesday 15 April 2020 with a live performance by cellist Tim Gill of Edmund Finnis’ Three Solos and Emma-Ruth Richards’ Dark Radiance.
Later in April we will launch Postcard Pieces - the chance to send your short compositions on the back of a postcard and hear it interpreted by one of our principal musicians. Our Introduction to Contemporary Instruments, where you can find out more about the unusual demands 21st century music can make on the instrument and the performer, will also be launching in April.
In this uncertain time, the London Sinfonietta continues to produce inspiring live events and to support musicians and composers in the production of new music. We hope you will join us.
More information about further events in the series will be published here.
