2021/22 Season: First events announced

The London Sinfonietta is proud to announce the first events in its 2021/22 season. After the tumult of the past two seasons, we are pleased to return to the Southbank Centre with two events exploring new musical worlds.

On 17 November, we join forces with four stars of the London jazz scene for new commissions which distort the boundary between classical and jazz, combining the power and virtuosity of each in this thrilling event (click here for more information), while on 1 December, we bring Iberian sunshine to wintry London in an event exploring the legacy of Catalan visionary Roberto Gerhard (click here for more information).

We also continue to break new ground in the digital sphere, continuing to release live and as-live concert and performance films, educational resources and more.

Chief Executive and Artistic Director, Andrew Burke, said:

"New music for an ensemble like the London Sinfonietta is defined today by its range of styles made by a diverse set of music creators.  We are excited to be able to plan concerts with live audiences again and proud to present these two events which feature new commissions and also celebrate the repertoire that the Ensemble has championed in the past.  With a continuation of releases of filmed performances captured during lockdown behind closed doors we will continue our digital content for the wider online audiences who have discovered the excitement and passion of contemporary new music over the past months".

More information about the full extent of our 2021/22 season will be published in September 2021.
