SOUND ACROSS A CENTURY / 2 - CANCELLED
CANCELLED - Late romanticism to modernism
Queen Elizabeth Hall, London
At the start of the 20th century, a ‘big bang’ in music saw composers evolving new melody, harmony, forms and colours. The ripples that spread across the coming century created many different stories, arriving at today's hugely varied styles. Presenter Jonathan Cross joins conductor Thierry Fischer to tell one of these stories, through music, images and video of the time – as composers found fascination with musical colour, and invented a new musical language which still resonates today.
