LEANING EAST
LEANING EAST
A celebration of contemporary musical life in Poland
Southbank Centre's Queen Elizabeth Hall, London
On a cold winter evening in London, we brought some much-needed Iberian sunshine in the form of A Catalan Celebration, in association with the Institut Ramon Llull. We revisited the music of Catalan visionary Roberto Gerhard, after more than 50 years since we gave the first European performances of his astrological pieces Libra and Leo. The night also included music by Australian composer Lisa Illean, and two of today's Catalan composers Joan Magrané Figuera and Raquel García Tomás.
Take a look at some photos, reviews and reaction from the night.
...the (London) Sinfonietta performances, conducted by Edmon Colomer, showed that they still come across as brilliant ensemble showpieces, full of diverting incident, with touching moments of lyricism. " Andrew Clements, The Guardian
...a powerful, directed, and highly dramatic performance. Mark Berry, Seen and Heard International
