In this exciting new strand of our Lockdown Live series, London Sinfonietta players dive in to the nuances of contemporary performance on their instruments, and explore how they're used in a contemporary setting. See the techniques and styles used in new music composition, with examples from a selection of the most renowned works of contemporary writing.

In this live video, oboist Melinda Maxwell explores contemporary writing for oboe, performing the world premiere of Simon Holt Raw Air, which was written specially for Melinda. She will also draw on examples from Edgard Varèse Octandre and Harrison Birtwistle Pulse Sampler.
