Introduction to Contemporary Clarinet Live
30 Apr 2020
In this exciting new strand of our Lockdown Live series, London Sinfonietta players dive in to the nuances of contemporary performance on their instruments, and explore how they're used in a contemporary setting. See the techniques and styles used in new music composition, with examples from a selection of the most renowned works of contemporary writing.
In this live video, London Sinfonietta principal horn Michael Thompson explores contemporary writing for horn, with a particular focus on György Ligeti Hamburg Concerto (for solo horn and chamber orchestra) and the solo horn movement Appel interstellaire from Olivier Messiaen Des Canyons aux Etoiles. Michael will also perform a world premiere of Frank Horvat Music for Self-Isolation.
