A Celebration of Young Voices and New Music
This summer, our concert celebrating new music and composition Sound Out went on tour! We brought interactive music-making and live performance to pupils across the UK, inspiring thousands of young people through a series of vibrant, collaborative concerts.
Led by conductor and presenter Patrick Bailey, six London Sinfonietta musicians visited schools and venues in Enfield, Rushmoor, Southampton, South Gloucestershire, and the Isle of Wight. The tour gave students the opportunity to hear and perform music by living composers, including their very own new works, created through workshops with professional composers and musicians in the lead-up to each performance.
For many, it was their first experience of contemporary classical music and performing alongside professional musicians. The result? Joyful, imaginative performances full of curiosity, creativity and confidence.
“A huge thank you to everyone involved - we have loved being part of the project and our students have benefitted enormously from this.”- Music Teacher, Calthorpe Park School
“I just wanted to let you know that my daughter absolutely LOVED today's workshop with the Sinfonietta musicians! She has been talking about it non-stop since getting home from school” - Parent, Isle of Wight
The Sound Out! On Tour was a celebration of possibility: what can happen when young people are given the tools, time and support to be creative. We’re incredibly proud of what they achieved and grateful to the teachers, local music services, venues and funders who helped make it all possible.
