With the 2024/25 season now complete, we’re proud to celebrate a year defined by innovation, collaboration, and connection – both on and off stage.
From our home at the Southbank Centre, we delivered a series of sold-out, bold and thought-provoking programmes that pushed the boundaries of classical contemporary music. The first four shows - Schoenberg: Reshaping Tradition, Refracted Sound, Love Lines, and Boulez/Cage: Letters – all sold out, a testament to the growing audience for bold, new music.
We kicked off the season with Schoenberg: Reshaping Tradition, a compelling portrait of one of the 20th-century’s most influential avant-garde composers. The Boulez/Cage: Letters offered a unique glimpse into the unexpected similarities of these two giants of modern music. Hidden Voices gave a platform to underrepresented composers and untold stories, In C explored the dynamics of sonic communication, and our finale Humans explored the complexities of the human condition – featuring new works by two of our Writing the Future composers.
Beyond the concert hall, we deepened our commitment to the next generation through our flagship education programmes. Sound Out returned to the Royal Festival Hall in spectacular form, with over 2,000 young people across London performing original music they created alongside our musicians and composers. Taking the spirit further afield, our first ever Sound Out! On Tour brought interactive music-making and live performance to schools and communities across the UK.
Thank you to everyone who joined us – in the concert hall, the classroom, or online – and to the artists, composers, partners and funders who made this season possible. We can’t wait to share what’s next.
