In this video series The Composer's Mind, we meet the composers behind London Sinfonietta's rich programme of newly commissioned repertoire. We get inside their minds and learn about their journey as a composer, get a glimpse into the process of writing new music and follow them as they hear their commission performed live for the first time in a rehearsal space or concert hall.

The Composer's Mind: Tansy Davies

We caught up with Tansy Davies to hear about her journey as a
composer from a young age. Having begun her relationship with
the London Sinfonietta as a keen school participant, Davies has
become a regular collaborator with the ensemble with recent world
premieres including The Rule Is Love (2019) and her RPS
award-winning chamber opera Cave (2017)

Christian Mason

The Composer's Mind: Christian Mason

Christian Mason's In The Midst of the Sonorous Islands received its 
world premiere in October 2016 as part of a Europe-wide project which
sought to incorporate the audience new composition without any musical
experience required. Glass bottles, baoding balls, tin foil, harmonicas and
whispers were used to integrate the public. Hear what Christian had to say
about meeting such a challenging brief.
