Steve Reich Clapping Music
After the world première performance in London (which is already sold-out), the London Sinfonietta brings Steve Reich’s Radio Rewrite to Brighton, a major new work inspired by the Radiohead songs Everything In Its Right Place and Jigsaw Falling Into Place. “The greatest living composer of our time” (New York Times) is present in Brighton, and also performs in his seminal piece Clapping Music.
'There's just a handful of living composers who can legitimately claim to have altered the direction of musical history and Steve Reich is one of them.' Guardian
Radio Rewrite is a co-commission by the London Sinfonietta and New York’s Alarm Will Sound. It marks an on-going collaboration between the London Sinfonietta and Steve Reich, as well as the ensemble’s connection with Johnny Greenwood of Radiohead, having commissioned his very first ensemble work, Smear.
